WELCOME TO KIM GARTH
As previously announced we have been lucky enough to secure Kim Garth for the 2017-18 season.
Kim hails from Pembroke, south of Dublin where she played junior boys cricket from the under 9s to senior competitions. At 14 Kim made her international debut for Ireland in a T20 match and has since played 33 one day and 28 T20 internationals.
Kim, an all rounder came to Australia last season as an international rookie and joined the Sydney Sixers hoping to learn from her teammates and not expecting much game time. With injuries and a couple of players returning home for games for South Africa, she found herself in the starting eleven for 6 games including the winning final against the Scorchers in Perth. Kim values the opportunity she had and the experience she gained playing in the world’s best T20 competition.
Kim has also already played in the T20 world cup.
When asked what she was looking forward to at Dandenong, she said “I am excited to work with new coaches, particularly Cathryn Fitzpatrick to try and improve my game and take it to the next level so I can perform more consistently with both bat and ball particularly at international level. I am really excited to play my first full season in Australia and am looking forward to the challenge of adapting to different conditions from back home, and obviously hopefully win some silverware with the club.”
Kim has a desire to see women’s cricket in Ireland grow and become stronger and recognises she can help be a catalyst to this. Her longer term ambition is to continue to improve and to become one of the world’s best all rounders. She would particularly relish influencing a move for Ireland up the international ladder and into the top 8 sides in the world.
