New men's coaching panel confirmed
Date of Event Dandenong Cricket Club : Tue May 19, 2020 10:09PM

We are thrilled to confirm that Craig Slocombe will step up to the position of Senior Assistant Coach for our men's program following his role as Pattinson Academy coach last season.

We are likewise excited that former player Dave Newman will return to Shepley as an Specialtist Coach while Brett Forsyth and James Nanopoulos will also play a more formal role on Tuesday nights as Specialist Batting and Bowling coaches respectively.

Dave first played with us in 2006-07 and formed a critical part of our MP1's first premiership. A skillful bat and and change bowler, he was a vital part of our team for three years until he move back home to play at Kyabram. In latter years he has played and coached with success in Inverloch and last season coached the Gippsland under 18 men's side and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Dave reached out to Warren during the off season wanting to again have involvement at the Premier level where he can pass on his skill in all three traits of the game. He will be there each Thursday and is looking forward to being back in the fold and mixing with the good friends he still has here.

Craig is a former player of Dandenong CC and has always taken a keen interest in the Club and in Premier Cricket and has often been seen having a quiet look in on proceedings at Shepley and elsewhere. He has built an illustrious career in the Australian indoor cricket scene and in the DDCA.

He has been ever faithful to Springvale South, involved in 12 grand final appearances for 5 wins. A hard hitting bat and spin bowler, he had the ability to completely take the game away from the opposition. Craig has also been successfully involved in coaching the DDCA under 21s, sits on the DDCA executive and is a Hall of Famer of the Association.

Last season he took over part of our Pattinson Academy, and largely for this reason he has accepted a role as Assistant coach. Craig enjoys working with and assisting young players to develop and realise their potential. He is looking forward to helping those that want to work hard and push up and is ready enable their progression. He is also looking forward to turning out for the occasional match when time permits and the club desires.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a formidable line up for our men's coaching department and look forward to watching our players develop with access to such great expertise.
